Inner-City Transformation in Hamburg – Urban Governance and Sustainability Strat

Centrally located land at Hamburg`s waterfront offers the chance to innovate urban development from a social and ecological perspective. The outcome of urban design, landscape design and infrastructure planning is closely linked to organisational and institutional aspects of urban development. The presentation embeds a socio-technical view on urban develompent along the examples HafenCity and Grasbrook.

Bio: Philipp Preuner is project manager and assistant to the executives at HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, a city-owned urban development corporation, where he focuses on urban sustainability and innovation issues on a district scale. He graduated from the MSc Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning at HCU Hamburg following a double undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Economics in Vienna and Hong Kong. Before joining HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, he worked for UN-Habitat and the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis on integrative urban development issues.
